Special Class Paraprofessionals

Welcome 2011 - 2012 School Year!

The children in our classes have difficulties in learning. Many of our students work in the general education classroom, with assistance from Miss Glime, Mrs. McCool, or the paraeducators. We work with the general education classroom teachers to differentiate learning material for each student. At times, the children receive instruction in our classrooms to help remediate learning deficits. Often  the children work in small groups or in individual learning activities to improve their learning.

Events and Announcements
January 18    1:30 Dismissal: Professional Development
February 1,2   Parent Conferences
April 20, 21    Readers All Conference in Moline, Illinois (Dyslexia)
The students are busy working on projects in their homerooms. We are working on IEP goals in the classroom whenever possible. There are times when the children come to our room to work on their goals. It's great when parents are able to help with homework and IEP goals at home, as well. This helps the child generalize the skill to a new location. It also helps keep Mom and Dad involved in the day-to-day learning.

The new school year, 2011-2012 is off to a great start!  Everyone is getting used to new schedules, teachers, and routines. We are working on IEP goals during the 1st quarter.  IEP testing is done weekly and graphed, so students can help monitor their progress on goals.
